September Visit to the AWS SFO28 Office

Imagine yourself 10,000 years ago, ice-age, 2-day solo foraging trip - starving. You walk around a boulder and come face-to-face with a ravenously hungry saber-toothed tiger. That was like starting a business 100 years ago – life was much more difficult.

 Now, imagine present day, after-dinner summer stroll with 2 friends, around your mountain farm. You walk around that same boulder (10,000 years later) and see a cute bobcat running away. That is like starting a business today in this world of abundance; technology, services, and experts readily available to you.

Last week the BUILDSTR team traveled to San Francisco to spend time with fellow AWS professionals and the abundance was very tangible; high quality people, amazing start-ups, and some truly AWSome folks from Amazon Web Services (Account Managers and Solution Architects). There were extensive technology services and tools at your fingertips, and experts waiting to take on the necessary but tedious tasks, freeing you to focus on your core business. 

 Over the course of our trip we: 

• Met 18 business start-up leaders

• Learned about 9 AWS Customers

• Spent time with 27 AWS Solution Architects, Account Managers, Leaders (including 6 Specialty Sales professionals)

• Drank 17 cups of coffees

• Participated in 3 Happy Hours 

• Savored (several) drinks 

It is impossible to do business with AWS, especially with the AWS Start-Ups and Climate Tech teams, and not recognize that there is a humanity to the customer obsession. Together, working as one team, there is a love for excellence in business mixed with a love for our planet.
